Rene Jansen is a Dutch-born artist and designer based in Oratia, West Auckland, who works in both sculpture and furniture design.

Drawing inspiration from the natural world and modernist movements like Bauhaus, Jansen crafts geometric, abstract reliefs and bespoke furniture that balance function with poetic form. His sculptural series, such as The Leaf Project, explore organic motifs through brass and timber, while his furniture—crafted from locally sourced oak, maple, and tubular steel—reflects a commitment to sustainability and timeless design.

Rene’s studio practice is deeply hands-on, rooted in craftsmanship and a desire to create pieces that resonate with both heritage and innovation.

Rene works out of his studio at 92B Shaw Road Oratia.
